Kevin Martin's squad over came a 3-1 deficit to beat Norway's Thomas Ulsrud 9-8 in an extra-end. Martin, facing to Norwegian stones in the eight-foot rings, threw a wide draw for the victory that just stopped for shot stone, about three inches closer to the centre.
"That's what we wanted to give (Kevin)," said Canadian third John Morris.
"For sure, draw to the four-foot, any day of the week for Kevin.
"I think I've seen him miss one draw (for the win) in two years."
Canada took a huge four-ender in the seventh end, one of three scored by three different teams in the Tuesday morning draw. One sheet over, Denmark's Johnny Frederiksen grabbed four in the sixth end en route to a narrow 8-7 win over the Czech Republic, while Scotland's David Murdoch scored his quad in the eighth end of an 11-7 result over Sweden.
In the other game, Australia's Hugh Millkin outscored the U.S.A. 6-4.
Canada moves to 6-0, with Germany and Australia both next in line with four wins. Four teams are tied at 3-3.
