The two sides swapped points through to the seventh end when Kapp missed a takeout to drop a steal for a 5-4 deficit. In the eighth, Kapp missed a blank attempt and took an unwanted tying point.
In the ninth end, Murdoch made a stellar pick on a near-buried German counter for the blank, and when Kapp failed to to bury his last stone completely in the tenth, Murdoch repeated that shot and counted two for the win.
As the partisan German crowd filed out, Murdoch acknowledged that his week in Füssen has been somewhat unpredictable.
"I've felt in control all week, and unfortunately we've ended up with four losses," said Murdoch.
"We've got nothing to fear anymore. We played well all game, we've played well all week, as long as I make the last shot, we're laughing."
The Scots weren't laughing in their round-robin game versus front-running Norway, when Murdoch left the winning draw short of the rings despite end-to-end sweeping.
"We like a bit of attention," Murdoch smiled. "It's always fun."
Kapp's squad now steps into the role of host committee workers, while Murdoch's men prepare for their morning game against Switzerland in the "Page" three versus four playoff. The winner is out and the victor moves into the semi-final.
Meanwhile, the surprising Norwegians, skipped by Thomas Ulsrud, and Denmark's equally surprising Johnny Frederiksen will battle in the "Page" one versus two match. The winner advances to Saturday's Championship final while the loser drops into the semi-final.
